The University of Mississippi

TLDR:

      • Beat Week against the University of Georgia starts Monday, Oct. 13, at midnight, and ends Oct. 18 at 11:59 p.m. CST.
      • Our supporters will face off to see who can raise more gifts. The amount of each giftdoesn’t matter. A $5 gift counts as one gift, and a $5 million gift counts as one gift. So,consider giving more than once (minimum gift is $5)!
      • Any academic cause counts: Your charitable gifts may be made to any fund except athletics.
      • Anyone can participate. And everyone SHOULD participate to help us beat the Bulldogs.
      • Gifts of all sizes work together to strengthen our university and improve the lives of Ole Miss students.
      • Make your gift at beat-week.com
      • Want more information? Come to our Beat Week Workshop on Oct. 3!

What Is Beat Week?

The University of Mississippi will face off against the University of Georgia in this year’s Beat Week, an annual fundraising competition against one our fiercest football rivals. From Oct. 13–18, every gift of $5 or more to any academic cause counts toward victory. You can give to any school, college, department, program, scholarship, endowment or area of greatest need, and every dollar helps strengthen Ole Miss, support our students and beat the Bulldogs.

Think of it as another way to wear your Rebel pride. The football team will handle business on the field, but we all play a role at winning this contest off the field.

Here, you will find all the resources you need to help us BEAT UGA!

What Can You Do?

Make a gift to your favorite area of campus and encourage your friends and family to do the same!

Use the resources below to help promote our Beat Week Campaign on any social accounts that you manage.

Include Beat Week in any marketing materials that you have scheduled for the week of Oct. 13-18. Emphasize that when you give during Beat Week you are not onlystrengthening Ole Miss but also helping us beat the Bulldogs!

Personally reach out to any alumni, donors, student organizations or other Ole Miss groups that you may work with.

What’s the Plan Here?

The Annual Giving Team and the Marketing and Communications Team have worked together on a centralized plan (see below) that will benefit all units on campus.

All week, students will be calling through our phonathon program to share the news about Beat Week and connect Rebels to their favorite cause at Ole Miss. Hotty Toddy TVs across campusand our website will have information on Beat Week and how to participate. Emails will go out to all constituents encouraging alumni, friends, students and faculty/staff to get involved and give. The @OleMiss social channels will be posting frequently across platforms to keep Rebel Nation well informed of the standings. And, we will be tabling on Union Plaza all week (weather permitting).

Individual schools/colleges/units are encouraged to build on this plan and include your own outreach as well. If you have a newsletter or other communication scheduled that week, please be sure to include a section on Beat Week (sample language in the Communicators Networksection below). Don’t just rely on the central University social channels – post frequently across your platforms throughout the week too. Don’t forget, repeat gifts count!

Finally, take note that we left Tuesday and Thursday open for our units to get creative and send targeted outreach to their audiences (sample language in the Communicators Network section below). When you are creating content to promote Beat Week, be sure to link to beat-week.com. Please feel free to send us any content ahead of time at ag@olemiss.edu.
