Emerging entrepreneurs
Whether students want to launch a start-up or learn how to innovate within an existing business, we provide experiences. Students with ideas can take part in our Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s (CIE) programs and competitions. CIE competitions offer prize money for students who can develop their ideas and convey their visions. We offer a major in entrepreneurship through the School of Business, but anyone can add entrepreneurship as a minor.
Prosperity in communities
We work in communities and for communities in areas such as providing access to clean water, increasing access to health care, expanding mental health services and improving K-12 education quality across the state. Partnering with schools and communities provides learning opportunities for our students. Our faculty and students engage in research and discoveries that can be commercialized. As we build investments to support research, the ability to get our discoveries to the private sector for commercialization increases and jobs are created. Our office of Technology Commercialization provides support.
Workforce ready graduates
Our students must have knowledge in new fields such as data analytics, technology, and artificial intelligence but also be able to convey their ideas in writing and conversations. By developing more strong partnerships with business, industry and nonprofit sectors, we can create internships, co-ops and other on-site company interactions. It is in these real-world experiences that students see if they want to pursue such careers and what they need to do to add value. They also see how it takes expertise from multiple areas to run a successful organization.
