The University of Mississippi

Faculty Support Shapes Our Future

Faculty support plays a major role in the University of Mississippi’s efforts to hire the best professors. That support creates endowed chairs and professorships, which add prestige and funding.

Ken Cyree, dean of the UM School of Business Administration, explains how much is at stake with faculty support.

“Having an outstanding faculty is critical to providing the incredible educational opportunities we offer our students. The formal part of education is performed by the faculty and the extent to which we can attract and retain world-class faculty greatly determines our future as a university.”

Professors shape what happens in the university’s classrooms and labs. They provide the expertise for innovative programs. Competition for the best of the best is fierce, but when the university wins, those professors bring their talents to campus to teach and do research.

Gifts of any size help this effort, but there are also several larger naming opportunities available. They include:

  • Chair: $2 million and up
  • Professorship: $1 million and up
  • Director, Lecturer, or Scholar: $500,000 and up
  • Faculty Start-up Fund: $100,000 and up
  • Named Lecture Series Fund: $50,000 and up.

Please consider a gift to support our faculty. Your investment helps raise our academic profile and funds future innovations, real-world research, life-changing solutions, and richer opportunities for our students.
