University of Mississippi students are preparing for dynamic careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and health care fields at the new Jim and Thomas Duff Center for Science and Technology Innovation.
The Big Picture: The 202,000 square-foot facility is transforming how we teach STEM subjects, using the latest technology and scientific instrumentation with a focus on active learning group activities. We encourage donors to give and name a space in the building, with the resources used to purchase equipment and technology. By investing in the next generation of STEM and health care-educated graduates, donors will help fill critical needs, boost economic development and improve the world around us.
Why It Matters:
- We are growing the pipeline of health professionals, engineers, computer specialists, and science and math teachers.
- These graduates will boost the economy and be globally competitive as a projected 11.2 million career positions in STEM will be available in 2030.
- This facility is preparing Ole Miss students with tremendous career potential and opportunities to work in cutting-edge fields.
- This space is enhancing the university’s outreach to K-12 science teachers.
- This initiative is promoting science literacy for all students and among the general population.
